What the song is about

“Gurenge” (紅蓮華, crimson lotus) is the opening theme of the anime Demon Slayer (2019). Sung by LiSA, it's a song about finding strength in the hardest moments: whatever you've lost, you keep going, you protect what matters, you bloom like a red lotus out of the mud.

It became one of the biggest anime songs ever, sung at every karaoke in Japan, and it helped make LiSA one of the country's most famous singers. The show's story — a boy fighting demons to save his sister — gives every line its weight.

The Japanese is fast and powerful but built on strong, clear words: strong, to protect, fate, dream. Learn them and you'll be singing along by the chorus.
