What the song is about

“Tusa” (2019) follows a woman who swears she's over her ex. She's out with her friends, she's dancing, she even has someone new — and then the DJ plays the song that was theirs, and the heartbreak comes straight back. KAROL G sings it with a smile and a sting; Nicki Minaj adds a verse in English.

“Tusa” is Colombian slang for the sadness and longing after a break-up (it's also the word for a corn cob). The song made the word famous far beyond Colombia: people now say they have “tusa” the way English speakers say they're heartbroken.

The chorus is slow and clear, and the verses are full of everyday Colombian Spanish, including the very Colombian “man” for a guy. A perfect first KAROL G song.
