What the song is about

“Rayando el Sol” is one of the first big hits by Maná, the rock band from Guadalajara, Mexico. The singer, Fher Olvera, is desperate over a love he can't win back; his longing feels endless, and the chorus sums it up: it would be easier to reach the sun than to reach her heart.

Released in 1990 on Falta Amor, it helped make Maná the best-selling Latin rock band of all time. It's a staple of Mexican radio and of every Maná concert.

The words are simple and the chorus is slow and memorable. “Rayar el sol” refers to the first light of dawn — and the song plays with that image of something bright and out of reach.
