What the song is about

“Corazón Espinado” (thorny heart) is from Supernatural (1999), the album that brought Carlos Santana, born in Jalisco, Mexico, back to the top of the charts. Maná's Fher Olvera sings of a woman who has hurt him so badly that his heart is full of thorns — she's killing him, and he still can't forget her.

Santana's guitar answers every line, and the band's Latin rock rhythm makes it impossible to sit still. It became a hit across the Americas and a favourite on Mexican radio.

The vocabulary is a lovely mix of feelings and images: the thorn, to hurt, to forget, the pain. The chorus is short and repeated, so it's easy to sing along.
