What the song is about

“Con Calma” (calmly, easy) is Daddy Yankee's 2019 reworking of “Informer”, the 1992 reggae hit by the Canadian singer Snow, who appears on the track. Daddy Yankee sets it in a club: he spots a woman dancing and tells her to take it easy, move slowly, enjoy the moment.

It became one of the biggest songs of 2019, reaching number one in many countries, and a remix with Katy Perry followed. Snow's famous fast-talking hook is in English-ish patois; the rest is Puerto Rican Spanish.

The Spanish is short and punchy, and the title phrase is a useful one in daily life: “con calma” — calmly, no rush. Listen for the dance-floor commands and Daddy Yankee's crisp, rhythmic delivery.
