What the song is about

“Vivir Mi Vida” (2013) is Marc Anthony's salsa version of “C'est la vie”, a hit by the Algerian singer Khaled. The message is pure joy: whatever happened, I'm going to laugh, I'm going to dance, I'm going to live my life — why cry, why suffer?

Marc Anthony, a New Yorker of Puerto Rican family and the best-selling salsa singer of his generation, turned it into one of the most-watched salsa videos ever, and it's a staple at Latin parties and weddings.

Grammar gold: the chorus is built on “voy a + verb” (I'm going to…), the simplest way to talk about the future in Spanish. Sing along and it sticks. The verses add the vocabulary of feelings: to cry, to suffer, to laugh, to enjoy.
