What the song is about

“Lamento Boliviano” (Bolivian lament) was a 1994 hit for Enanitos Verdes, a rock band from Mendoza, Argentina. The singer is far from the one he loves, restless and hurting; people around him try to stir him up, but he stays put — drunk, a little crazy, and with a foolish heart that will keep shining for her.

It became one of the great anthems of Latin American rock, sung at full voice in bars, stadiums and football grounds from Mexico to Chile.

The melody is slow and the words are clear, with simple everyday vocabulary — the heart, to love, here, far away, to shout. A perfect song for learning to sing along in Spanish.
