What the song is about

In “Hawái” (2020), Maluma watches his ex's social media: she's in Hawaii with her new, rich partner, every picture is perfect, and everyone thinks she's living the dream. He's convinced it's a show — she's posting for him, and she still thinks about what they had.

The song became one of the biggest Latin hits of 2020, and a remix with The Weeknd followed. The beat is slow and smooth, and Maluma's Medellín Spanish is clear.

It's very modern Spanish: photos, posts, likes, to pretend, to show off. A good song for “aunque” (even though) and for the contrast between looking happy and being happy.
