What the song is about

“Next Level” (2021) is a remake of a song from the Fast & Furious spin-off Hobbs & Shaw, rebuilt by aespa into a chapter of their own sci-fi story. The members travel to KWANGYA (광야, “the wilderness”), a digital world, to face a villain and rescue their virtual counterparts — and in the process, they level up.

The song's sudden changes of beat confused some listeners at first, then made it one of the biggest K-pop hits of the year; “I'm on the next level” became a catchphrase.

It's B2: fast lines and a story you need to know. The vocabulary mixes everyday Korean with gaming words — level, next, the max level — that are slang in Korea too.
