What the song is about

“Ditto” (2022) is a quiet, wintry song about a feeling you can't quite say out loud. The singer has liked someone for a long time, she's waiting for them to say it first, and she hopes they feel the same — “ditto”, me too.

NewJeans, the girl group known for a soft, nostalgic sound, released it in December 2022, and it became a long-running number one in Korea. Its video, shot like an old camcorder tape of school friends, added to the dreamy mood.

The Korean is the everyday language of young people: short lines, simple verbs, a few English words. A good B1 song for hearing how Korean drops pronouns and keeps sentences light.
