“Ti amo” (I love you) is an outpouring. The singer is overwhelmed: he loves her, he asks forgiveness, he's confused, he says “ti amo” again and again between scattered images of their life together. It's raw and a little chaotic — the way real declarations are.
Released in 1977, it stayed at number one in Italy for months and became Tozzi's first big international hit, covered in many languages.
For learners, it's the most famous use of the most famous Italian phrase. Around it you'll hear the vocabulary of love and apology: perdono (forgiveness), chiedere (to ask), restare (to stay).
