“Il mondo” (the world) is a 1965 ballad by Jimmy Fontana. After a night of love that has ended — or a love that's over — the singer looks around and realises the world didn't stop: night follows day, the sun rises, life goes on, indifferent to his heart.
It became a classic of 1960s Italian song, covered in many languages, and it has returned again and again in films and adverts. It's a favourite of Italian-language classes for good reason.
The Italian is slow and the vocabulary is basic: the world, night, day, to turn, to stop. Learn “non si è fermato mai” (it never stopped) and you've got the chorus.
