What the song is about

“Santé” (cheers!) was Stromae's comeback in 2021, after years away from the spotlight. It's a party song with a twist: he raises his glass not to the people celebrating, but to those who make the party possible — the waiters, the cleaners, the flight attendants, the night-shift workers who are on the job while others have fun.

The beat is joyful, with a hint of Latin American rhythm, and the video shows workers turning their shift into a dance. It came out ahead of his album Multitude (2022).

Stromae's French is quick but very clear. You'll learn the vocabulary of jobs and nights, and a key toast: santé! — literally “health”.
