What the song is about

“Dommage” (what a shame) is a 2017 song by Bigflo & Oli, two rapping brothers from Toulouse. In four short stories, people miss their chance: a man who never tells a woman he loves her, a singer who never dares to perform, and others who wait too long. Each time: what a shame, if only.

The song won song of the year at France's Victoires de la Musique, and its message — dare, before it's too late — made it a favourite with teenagers and teachers alike.

Their rap is clear and well articulated, perfect for practising. Grammar treasure: “j'aurais dû” (I should have) and “si j'avais su” (if I'd known), the French ways to talk about regret.
