What the song is about

“Yo Perreo Sola” (I dance alone) from YHLQMDLG (2020) is sung from the point of view of a woman at the club who doesn't need a partner to enjoy herself. She used to be ignored; now she's the one doing the ignoring. The message to the guys hovering around her: don't touch, she's dancing by herself.

The video, in which Bad Bunny appears in drag, made the song a statement about consent and freedom on the dance floor, and it became one of his signature tracks. Nesi, a Puerto Rican singer, adds vocals.

“Perrear” is the verb for dancing reggaeton (from perro, dog, after the dance's style). The song's lines are short and repeated; the challenge is the Puerto Rican slang and the speed.
