What the song is about

“Dákiti” (2020) is a moody night-out song by Bad Bunny and Jhay Cortez (now Jhayco). They sing about a woman who lives fast — designer clothes, nights out, men chasing her — and who is clearly in control. The beat is dark and floating, closer to electronic music than to classic reggaeton.

It reached the top of global charts, and its title isn't an ordinary Spanish word, which made it one of the most-searched song names of the year; many fans link it to Dákity, a beach on the Puerto Rican island of Culebra.

The lines are short and repeated, so the structure is easy; the challenge is the street vocabulary and brand names. A good song for hearing how Puerto Rican Spanish weaves English words into the flow.
