What the song is about

“Bonito” (beautiful, lovely) is the happiest song by Jarabe de Palo, the Barcelona band of the late Pau Donés. It's a list of everything that seems lovely when you're in a good mood: the day, the people, the way you say things, even the way it's all going. And after each, the same word: bonito.

The song, from 2003, has a warm, Latin-tinged pop sound and became a feel-good classic in Spain and Latin America. Pau Donés, who died in 2020, is remembered for exactly this kind of optimism.

For a beginner it's ideal: short lines, slow singing and one word repeated so often you'll never forget it. “Me parece” (it seems to me) is a useful structure you'll pick up on the way.
