“Corazón Partío” (broken heart) was the song that made Alejandro Sanz a star across the Spanish-speaking world. After a break-up, he asks a string of questions: who's going to share her feelings with him now, who will keep him warm on a cold night, who will heal his broken heart? The answers never come; that's the point.
The music is rumba flamenca — Spanish guitars and hand claps with a pop chorus — and it was one of the biggest Spanish hits of the late 1990s, from the album Más.
“Partío” is “partido” (broken, split) the Andalusian way, with the “d” dropped. The chorus is built on “¿quién me va a…?” (who's going to…?), a great pattern to borrow for your own questions.
