What the song is about

Tribalistas was a one-album supergroup of three Brazilian stars — Marisa Monte, Arnaldo Antunes and Carlinhos Brown — and “Velha Infância” (old childhood) is its most loved song. It's a declaration of tender, playful love: you're a dream to me, I like being with you, and being together feels like childhood all over again.

The 2002 album sold millions and this song became a Brazilian standard, played at weddings to this day.

The three voices are soft and the lines are short and repeated, so it's an excellent A2 song. Listen for “a gente” — literally “the people”, but in Brazil the everyday way to say “we”.
