What the song is about

“Tempo Perdido” (lost time) is the most famous song by Legião Urbana, the Brasília rock band led by Renato Russo. The singer wakes every day feeling that time is running out, that there's never enough of it — and answers his own worry: we have all the time in the world, because we're so young.

Released in 1986 on the album Dois, it became the anthem of a generation that grew up as Brazil left military rule. Renato Russo died in 1996, and the song is still sung at full voice at every Brazilian rock night.

His diction is clear and the lines are simple, built around time and youth. A great B1 song, and a window into Brazilian rock.
